About data size units
Two systems share the same prefixes here, which is the source of endless confusion. A 'megabyte' might mean 1,000,000 bytes (the decimal MB used by storage vendors and bandwidth bills) or 1,048,576 bytes (the binary MiB used by operating systems). That's why a 1 TB drive shows up as 931 GB in your OS — the OS is reporting GiB while the drive is sold as TB.
